Virtual Media & Health Co-Discovery

Collaboration with Sheridan - SIRT — Ongoing

KITE and Sheridan’s Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre are pursuing several avenues for applied research that combine our collective expertise in healthcare innovation, virtual production technologies, and AI/gaming development. Our collaboration kicked off with a workshop that invited three KITE-affiliated ventures to present their initiatives to Sheridan faculty and industry guests. The following projects received facilitated feedback, in an intimate workshop setting, on such topics as technological approach, user experience and market fit:

  1. Robin Green/Alma Rahimi - Spatial Navigation Brain Game (KITE Creates cohort project)
  1. Melissa Biscardi/The Brain Toolkit - (KITE Creates cohort project)
  1. Kei Masani – Visual-Based/Functional Electrical Stimulation (KITE Scientist project)

This collaboration has subsequently garnered successful project-based funding that will advance KITE prototyping and commercialization efforts and is pursuing joint applications for applied research funding that has the potential to fuel breakthroughs in how knowledge, technologies and talent from non-healthcare fields can be applied to advancing healthcare innovations emerging from KITE.
