The KITE Research Institute and Holland Bloorview’s PEARL Lab are exploring opportunities to accelerate healthcare innovation through novel gaming and interactive digital media interventions. Combining the clinical insights available through health research institutes with the proven talent, mature + emerging technologies, and the marketplace reach afforded through Toronto’s dynamic creative industry, has the potential to spawn solutions that meet the complex care needs of diverse patient groups via:

• AI-Based Health Solutions    
• Wearable & Integrated Fashion Devices  

OVERARCHING OBJECTIVES  

• Identify opportunities to inform and/or create high-impact clinical and at-home interventions that are engaging, affordable and clinically effective; solutions may address a wide range of health outcomes such as, but not limited to, wellness, rehabilitation, prevention, athletic performance and public health engagement/education.  
• Unlock cross-sector collaboration between research and industry partners across such fields as game design/development, immersive media (AR/AR), film/television, AI and other industry verticals that have “health-tech” cross-over potential.  
• Identify new partnership and collaborative funding opportunities to support the development, distribution and commercial scale-up of relevant healthcare solutions.
